Programs Director

Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA

Pay: Hourly

Schedule: Part-Time

Position Description: 

The Programs Director will build a team of coordinators to develop and execute quality classes, camps, leagues and tournaments. She/He will develop an annual plan to be approved by the Operations Director to whom the Programs Director reports. The Programs Director is to provide exceptional experiences that support the mission of MAS-DC. The Programs Director will be responsible for programs at MAS-DC with emphasis on increasing involvement and participation at the Community Center. The Programs Director will also collaborate with various committees to plan, coordinate, and grow existing and new programs. She/He will also maintain open communication of the programs’ plans and needs with various committee chairs, and the Executive Team. She/He will meet with appropriate Committee Chairs on a regular basis and work closely with staff to further the mission of the MAS-DC Community Center.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise programs team including sports, fitness, and programs coordinators
  • Develop, oversee, and implement a variety of engaging programs/activities
  • Execute and oversee quality programs, classes, camps, leagues, and tournaments. 
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information
  • Establish and utilize feedback systems for regularly assessing the effectiveness of programs and for addressing emerging opportunities and/or needs
  • Manage contracts and invoicing for consultants
  • Manage and maintain the necessary levels of resources, materials, and supplies for programs 
  • Instruct classes as necessary
  • Oversee the rental of the spaces
  • Oversee the decor and order supplies as needed
  • Assist during Jumuah/Friday prayers
  • Assist with monthly leads meeting
  • Put together programs and text for the weekly newsletter
  • Assist in text for promotional items
  • Manage volunteers and staff for the Family Circle program
  • Coordinate with the different leads and programs so there is no calendar conflict
  • Data entry and updates for program registrations and to charge credit cards
  • More as directed by Leads/Operations Director

Administrative Assistant

Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA

Pay: Hourly

Schedule: Part-time, 20-25hrs per week

Description:​ ​Provide​ ​customer​ ​service​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​a​ ​variety​ ​of​ ​administrative​ ​and​ ​clerical​ ​tasks​ ​relating​ ​to the​ ​Community​ ​Center. 

Duties: 

  1. Provides administrative support to President and Program Director as assigned.
  2. Serves as primary business office and human resources contact for branch (Metropolitan departments, outside vendors)
  3.  Develops/maintains business office vendor relationships.
  4.  Assists with campaigns, as requested or assigned.
  5. Consistently provide friendly courteous assistance, exceeding customers’ expectations every day which includes building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with parents, children, host agencies, and staff.
  6.  Provides other administrative services to the branch (i.e. mailings, bulk mailings, etc).
  7. Answer​ ​phones​ ​and​ ​route​ ​calls​ ​to​ ​appropriate​ ​parties;​ ​respond​ ​to​ ​routine​ ​inquiries​ ​regarding processes/procedures​ ​related​ ​to​ ​operations.  
  8. ​ ​Act​ ​as​ ​first​ ​point​ ​of​ ​contact​ ​for​ ​visitors​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Center;​ ​greet​ ​visitors​ ​courteously​ ​and​ ​address routine​ ​inquiries,​ ​or​ ​direct​ ​visitors​ ​to​ ​appropriate​ ​personnel.​ ​Direct​ ​patrons/public​ ​to​ ​proper personnel​ ​for​ ​assistance.  
  9. Maintaining departmental databases/paperwork
  10. Assist​ ​co-workers​ ​with​ ​program registration​ ​process. 
  11. Perform​ ​routine​ ​maintenance​ ​on​ ​office​ ​equipment,​ ​such​ ​as​ ​change​ ​printer/toner​ ​cartridges, adds​ ​paper​ ​to​ ​copiers,​ charge iPads ​etc.;​ ​call​ ​for​ ​service​ ​vendors​ ​as​ ​necessary. 
  12. Assist​ ​co-workers​ ​with​ ​planning,​ ​preparation​ ​and​ set-up/​implementation​ ​of​ ​special​ ​events. 
  13. Uphold​ ​facility​ ​rules,​ ​regulations,​ ​policies,​ ​and​ ​procedures 
  14. Assist​ ​with​ ​maintaining​ ​daily​ ​cleanliness​ ​of​ ​Community​ ​Center by supervising custodians. 
  15. Check that supplies for office and cleaning staff are stocked.
  16. Check mail and packages daily.
  17. Book space reservations.
  18. Admin assist the QI program with book-keeping and processing payments
  19.  Ensuring proper paperwork and filing for all QI students & families
  20.  Assist with QI program management as requested by QI Director
  21.  Coordinate with custodians for setup and breakdown. 
  22.  Interface with donors, follow up regarding missing information and regular maintenance of database (declined payments)
  23. Additionally, in Ramadan special hours are kept from Isha to end of Taraweeh daily. Eid day attendance for the prayers offered as well as Eid celebration is also mandatory.
  24. Ramadan tasks will include collecting pledges, maintaining records of all donations received, paying police officers, etc.

Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Excellent communications (verbal and written)

Weekend Teacher for Ages 4-6

Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA

Pay: Hourly, unbenefited, and commensurate with experience. 

Schedule: Approx. 6-12hrs per week, minimum 

Type: Long-term, pending success of probationary period

Positions Open: Multiple

 

The candidate must:

  • Recite the Quran extremely well (with professional pronunciation of the letters, with “Tajweed”, and no mistakes).
  • Be available to work every Saturday and/or Sunday from 9:30-3:30 with some flexibility for one meeting per month, in addition to related events.
  • Have experience with teaching and dealing with young students from 4-6 years old.
  • Teach students the alphabet in Arabic using a variety of creative methodologies, and be able to share the fun with students.
  • Have a clear voice and excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to speak, communicate and read English fluently.

Substitute  Blossoms Teacher for Ages 3-5

Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA

Pay: Hourly, unbenefited, and commensurate with experience. 

Schedule: Approx. 4.5-21hrs per week

Type: Temporary, as needed

Positions Open: Multiple

 

The candidate must:

  • Speak Arabic “ Fus-ha” اللغة العربية الفصحى fluently.
  • Have experience with teaching and dealing with the students from 3 to 5 years old.
  • Recite the Quran extremely well (with professional pronunciation of the letters with “Tajweed”, and no mistakes).
  • Be on call and available to work as needed one or more days Monday through Friday from 8:00-3:45pm with some flexibility to work on Saturdays, in addition to attending and helping in related events.
  • Be creative and dynamic with the ability to teach and share the fun with students.
  • Have a clear voice and excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to speak, communicate and read English fluently.

Teachers are paid hourly, commensurate with experience.
