POSITION: Food Bank Coordinator
SUPERVISES: Volunteers
SCHEDULE: Part Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruiting & managing food bank volunteers
- Sorting and Packing food for distribution
- Practicing safe food handling and maintaining a clean, safe and organized kitchen work space
- Greeting and assisting clients
- Makes sure that food pantry is neat, clean, and well stocked
- Sends weekly report
Qualifications:
- Strong listening skills and proven ability to respectfully work with community members.
- Ability to present a positive professional image at all times with all people.
- Ability to work in a team setting and also to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Good planning and prioritization skills and ability to work strategically.
- Proficient in MS Word, & Excel
- Preferred – Virginia driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
- Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, computer input, coordination of hand, eye and foot
- Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying food boxes (approx. 10-15 lbs)
- Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling

Administrative Assistant
Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA
Pay: Hourly
Schedule: Part-time, 20-25hrs per week
Positions Open: 1
Description: Provide customer service as well as a variety of administrative and clerical tasks relating to the Community Center.
Duties:
- Provides administrative support to President and Program Director as assigned.
- Serves as primary business office and human resources contact for branch (Metropolitan departments, outside vendors)
- Develops/maintains business office vendor relationships.
- Assists with campaigns, as requested or assigned.
- Consistently provide friendly courteous assistance, exceeding customers’ expectations every day which includes building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with parents, children, host agencies, and staff.
- Provides other administrative services to the branch (i.e. mailings, bulk mailings, etc).
- Answer phones and route calls to appropriate parties; respond to routine inquiries regarding processes/procedures related to operations.
- Act as first point of contact for visitors to the Center; greet visitors courteously and address routine inquiries, or direct visitors to appropriate personnel. Direct patrons/public to proper personnel for assistance.
- Maintaining departmental databases/paperwork
- Assist co-workers with program registration process.
- Perform routine maintenance on office equipment, such as change printer/toner cartridges, adds paper to copiers, charge iPads etc.; call for service vendors as necessary.
- Assist co-workers with planning, preparation and set-up/implementation of special events.
- Uphold facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Assist with maintaining daily cleanliness of Community Center by supervising custodians.
- Check that supplies for office and cleaning staff are stocked.
- Check mail and packages daily.
- Book space reservations.
- Admin assist the QI program with book-keeping and processing payments
- Ensuring proper paperwork and filing for all QI students & families
- Assist with QI program management as requested by QI Director
- Coordinate with custodians for setup and breakdown.
- Interface with donors, follow up regarding missing information and regular maintenance of database (declined payments)
- Additionally, in Ramadan special hours are kept from Isha to end of Taraweeh daily. Eid day attendance for the prayers offered as well as Eid celebration is also mandatory.
- Ramadan tasks will include collecting pledges, maintaining records of all donations received, paying police officers, etc.
Skills Requirement:
Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Excellent communications (verbal and written)

Substitute Blossoms Teacher for Ages 3-5
Location: MAS-DC Community Center in Alexandria, VA
Pay: Hourly, unbenefited, and commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Approx. 4.5-21hrs per week
Type: Temporary, as needed
Positions Open: Multiple
The candidate must:
- Speak Arabic “ Fus-ha” اللغة العربية الفصحى fluently.
- Have experience with teaching and dealing with the students from 3 to 5 years old.
- Recite the Quran extremely well (with professional pronunciation of the letters with “Tajweed”, and no mistakes).
- Be on call and available to work as needed one or more days Monday through Friday from 8:00-3:45pm with some flexibility to work on Saturdays, in addition to attending and helping in related events.
- Be creative and dynamic with the ability to teach and share the fun with students.
- Have a clear voice and excellent communication skills.
- Be able to speak, communicate and read English fluently.
Teachers are paid hourly, commensurate with experience.
