MAS Youth Program for Development

What is MYpd?

The MAS Youth Program for Development (MYPD) consists of a series of lectures, youth forums, book club meetings, community service events, outings and more intended to strengthen one's Islamic character and develop a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood among our American Muslim youth.

MAS Youth Give and D.C. Central Kitchen volunteer opportunity took place Saturday, October 7th, 10AM. Check the photo gallery soon to see pictures!

MYPD BEYOND VOICES Youth Forum: took place October 28th, 11AM -1PM at Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church. BEYOND VOICES is a bimonthly meeting of diverse young Muslims discussing issues of concern to Muslim youth.

MYPD Book Club: Indulge Your Intellect! The MYPD's first book club meeting took place Saturday, November 18th at Woodrow Wilson Public Library from 3-5PM. Attendees discussed The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Check back to find out what MYPD's next book club pick will be!

MAS Youth Give Eid Gift Giving at Fairfax Hospital: This volunteer opportunity to give Eid gifts to children at Fairfax Hospital was successfully held in early January. Check back for more opportunities to volunteer with MYG.

MYPD Book Club Pick: Indulge Your Intellect! Join us in reading this month's pick: Companions of the Prophet, Volume One. Discussion meeting successfully was held Sunday, March 4th at Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center.

MAS Youth Give helps clean the Potomac Watershed: MYG and the Alice Ferguson Foundation at the 19th Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup helped keep the Potomac trash free. This unique opportunity took place March 31^st, 9AM - 12PM!

MYPD April Calendar

MAS Youth Give walks for Multiple Sclerosis: Multiple Sclerosis stops people from moving; MYG made a move that will make a difference. This charity walk event was successfully held Sunday, April 15^th at the Reston Town Center.

Sisters' Weekly High School Halaqah: Sisters High School Study Circle every Saturday at 7PM at Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center's Computer Room. Open to all high school sisters! For more information, email youth@masdc.org.

MAS Youth Brothers Sports: Join MAS Youth Brother's Sports every Saturday in April for Flag Football at Jeb Stuart Park! Open to brothers ages 14 and up. For more information, email youth@masdc.org.

MAS Youth Brothers' Aikido: Aikido, translated as "the way of harmonious spirit", is a modern Japanese martial art. Now all brothers ages 12 to 18 can learn this amazing art starting Monday, May 7th! Classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 6:30PM to 8PM. Register today for only $35 a month! Learn More
