An 11-year-old girl from Fairfax was part of Monday's Oprah Winfery show on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the episode, Anwar Omeish stood on the same steps where Dr. King stood in the summer of 1963 when he gave his "I Have a Dream" speech.

"(Dr. King) is really important because most likely, if he didn't do it, it would be like a really horrible place," said Anwar Omeish, who is part of an all muslim girl-scout troup.

The show included children from across the country, of different ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds.

"It very much, in fact, embodies and exemplifies the spirit and that dream that Martin Luther King wanted," explained her father Esam Omeish. "It makes me believe even more that the dream is ever so near, and that we can certainly do what the great man once proclaimed."
