Sheikh Mohamed Al Hilali is the Director of Islamic Affairs at the Islamic Society of Wichita. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in management and organizational leadership, having already attained a Masters degree in physics from Wichita State University, and a Bachelors degree in education from Sana'a University in Yemen. In addition, Sheikh Mohamed has a Bachelors degree in Islamic studies from Moath University in Yemen (a branch of Al Azher) and several Ejazah (certifications) in Tafseer, Arabic grammar, Aqeeda, and Seerah.
Along with this diverse educational background, Sheikh Mohamed has diverse professional and personal experience accumulated over three decades of work holding many titles and wearing many hats. For example: director, teacher, instructor, school principal, team leader, public speaker, university lecturer, imam (gives religious sermons), and trainer for teachers/community leaders, to name a few. He is one of the founders of Islamic American University and continues to be one of its instructors.
Through his dissertation entitled "Relationship Between Leadership Skills and Organizational Performance In Islamic Organizations In North America," Sheikh Mohamed is striving to develop a long-overdue leadership model for managing Islamic organization in North America and ultimately to be able to publish guidance in the form of books, papers and articles relating the personal and professional experience to the real-world problems.
Sheikh Mohamed comes from a family of four brothers, three sisters, his wife and his daughter. His 26-month-old daughter and his wife, who is working on her Master's degree, live in Kansas City, so Sheikh Mohamed splits his time between Wichita and Kansas City, Missouri. He also stays well connected with his siblings, although they all live oversees. His hobbies include swimming, horseback riding, jogging, reading, lecturing, traveling, reflecting and synthesizing new ideas and computing.
